Godolphin Stud and Stable Staff Awards 2019

The following terms and conditions set out the applicable terms and conditions for nomination for and participation in the Godolphin Stud and Stable Staff Awards 2019 (the “awards”).

  3. Newcomer Award (stud and stable employees)
  4. Horse Care Award (stud and stable employees)
  5. In the Saddle Award (stud and stable employees)
  6. Leadership Award (stud employees)
  7. Leadership Award (stable employees)
  8. Dedication to Racing and Breeding Award
  9. Irish Racing Excellence Award (overall award)

Nominations for the awards can be made by, but not limited to, trainers, owners, breeders, stable staff, stud staff, travelling staff and those working in racing administration and racing and breeding support services. 

Only individuals employed full-time in the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland can be nominated. Full-time employment is classified as a minimum of 30 hours worked per week. In the case of the Dedication to Racing and Breeding Award, nominees must have worked for a minimum of 20 years in a full-time position and may now be currently working in the industry on a part-time basis. Part-time employment is classified as a minimum of 20 hours per week.

Only one nomination form is required per nominated person as the awards are merit rather than vote based.

Nominations close at 5pm on Monday June 24th 2019. Nominations received after this date and time will not be accepted.

All nominations must comply with the nomination guidelines which are available on the website.

Incomplete nominations or nominations that have not followed the nomination guidelines will not be accepted. All nominees must have consented to be nominated and agree to be bound by these terms and conditions.

Nomination forms should include as much information as possible regarding contact details and information of previous employers and/or secondary contacts.

The judging panel (“the panel”) will comprise of the Judging Committee Chairperson, three individuals representing Irish Stable Staff Association, two representing Irish Thoroughbred Breeders’ Association and one from each of the following bodies/associations: Horse Racing Ireland, Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board, Irish Racehorse Trainers Association. The panel will also include the previous winner(s) of the Irish Racing Excellence Award.

No member of the judging panel is eligible for nomination for an award.

The three shortlisted nominees for the following eight categories will be announced in advance of the award ceremony.

  6. Leadership Award (stud employees)

The winner of each award category will be chosen by the judging panel and announced at the awards ceremony on the evening of Tuesday 29th October 2019.

The winner of the Racecourse Award will be announced at the awards ceremony on the evening of Tuesday 29th October 2019. The winner of the Racecourse Award will be exempt from winning again for three years.

The winner of the Irish Racing Excellence Award will be chosen from one of the winners of the Administration, Racing and Breeding Support Services, Newcomer, Horse Care, In the Saddle, Leadership (Stud), Leadership (Stable) and Dedication to Racing and Breeding awards and will be announced at the awards ceremony on the evening of Tuesday 29th October 2019.

Each finalist in the following award categories will be invited to the awards and provided with an additional three guest tickets to the awards ceremony.

  5. In the Saddle Award (stud and stable employees)
  6. Leadership Award (stud employees)

The winner of the Racecourse Award will be invited to the awards and provided with one additional guest ticket to the ceremony.

In addition, the award nominee’s employer, along with the person who nominated them will also be invited.

With the exception of the Irish Racing Excellence Award, nominees cannot win two awards in the same year.

Previous winners can win a different award three years after winning their first award.

Previous finalists can be finalists again in the same or different award categories.

If a family member is nominated, the related judge cannot vote in the category their family member is nominated in.

Judges who have a personal or work relationship with any of the nominees will abstain from voting for the nominee in question.

The prize money in respect of the winners and runners-up of the awards and their yards/studs will be paid by cheque after the awards ceremony. The trophies will be permanently retained by the winners.

The winner of the Newcomer Award will also win a five-night trip to Dubai.

The trip includes return flights from Dublin and five nights’ accommodation on a bed and breakfast basis. The dates of the trip will be confirmed by Godolphin. The trip will be taken in February/March 2020 and shall be conditional on additional terms and conditions which the winner will be notified of following the awards ceremony. The winner must be a stud or stable staff employee at the time of travel and must provide a letter from his/her employer prior to travel in 2020 to confirm this is the case.

All prize money paid may be subject to applicable taxes and deductions.

All nominees may be required to participate in publicity generated for the awards.

There is no alternative prize available and the judges’ decisions are final.

These terms and conditions shall be governed by and interpreted in accordance with laws of Ireland and entrants and nominees hereby submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Irish courts in connection with any legal dispute that may arise regarding any aspect of the awards or these terms and conditions.
