Godolphin Stud and Stable Staff Awards 2018

  1. The following terms and conditions set out the applicable terms and conditions for nomination for and participation in the Godolphin Stud and Stable Staff Awards 2018 (the “awards”).
  2. The award categories are:
    • Horse Care Award (stud and stable employees)
    • Dedication to Racing and Breeding Award
    • In the Saddle Award (stud and stable employees)
    • Leads by Example Award (stud and stable employees)
    • Newcomer Award (stud and stable employees)
    • Administration Award
    • Travelling Head Person Award
    • Racing and Breeding Support Services Award
    • Irish Racing Excellence Award (overall award)

  4. Nominations for the awards can be made by, but not limited to, trainers, owners, breeders, stable staff, stud staff, travelling staff and those working in racing administration and racing and breeding support services.
  5. Only individuals employed full-time in the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland can be nominated. Full-time employment is classified as a minimum of 30 hours worked per week. In the case of the Dedication to Racing and Breeding Award, nominees must have worked for a minimum of 20 years in a full-time position and may now be currently working in the industry on a part-time basis. Part-time employment is classified as a minimum of 20 hours per week.
  6. Only one nomination form is required per nominated person as the awards are merit rather than vote based.
  7. Nominations close at 5pm on Monday, 19th February, 2018. Nominations received after this date and time will not be accepted.

  9. All nominations must comply with the nomination guidelines which are available on the website.
  10. Incomplete nominations or nominations that have not followed the nomination guidelines will not be accepted.
  11. All nominees must have consented to be nominated and agree to be bound by these terms and conditions.
  12. Nomination forms should include as much information as possible regarding contact details and information of previous employers and/or secondary contacts.
  13. The judging panel (“the panel”) will comprise of the Judging Committee Chairperson, three individuals representing Irish Stable Staff Association, two from and Irish Thoroughbred Breeders’ Association and one from each of the following bodies/associations: Horse Racing Ireland, The Turf Club, Irish Racehorse Trainers Association. The panel will also include the previous winner(s) of the Irish Racing Excellence Award.
  14. No member of the judging panel is eligible for nomination for an award.
  15. The three shortlisted nominees for the following eight categories will be announced in advance of the award ceremony.
    • Horse Care Award (stud and stable employees)
    • Dedication to Racing and Breeding Award
    • In the Saddle Award (stud and stable employees)
    • Leads by Example Award (stud and stable employees)
    • Newcomer Award (stud and stable employees)
    • Administration Award
    • Travelling Head Person Award
    • Racing and Breeding Support Services Award
  16. The winner of each award category will be chosen by the judging panel and announced at the awards ceremony on the evening of Monday, 21st May, 2018.
  17. The winner of the Racecourse Award will be announced at the awards ceremony on the evening of Monday, 21st May, 2018:

The winner of the Irish Racing Excellence Award will be chosen from one of the winners of the Horse Care, Dedication to Racing and Breeding, In the Saddle, Leads by Example, Administration and Travelling Head Person awards and will be announced at the awards ceremony on the evening of Monday, May 21st 2018.
  19. Each finalist in the following award categories will be invited to the awards and provided with an additional three guest tickets to the awards ceremony:
    • Horse Care Award (stud and stable employees)
    • Dedication to Racing and Breeding Award
    • In the Saddle Award (stud and stable employees)
    • Leads by Example Award (stud and stable employees)
    • Newcomer Award (stud and stable employees)
    • Administration Award
    • Travelling Head Person Award
    • Racing and Breeding Support Services Award
  20. The winner of the Racecourse Award will be invited to the awards and provided with one additional guest ticket to the ceremony.
  21. In addition, the award nominee’s employer, along with the person who nominated them will also be invited.
  22. The prize money in respect of the winners and runners-up of the awards and their yards/studs will be paid by cheque after the awards ceremony.
  23. The winner of the Newcomer Award will also win a five-night trip to Dubai. The trip includes return flights from Dublin and five nights’ accommodation on a bed and breakfast basis. The dates of the trip will be confirmed by Godolphin. The trip will be taken in February/March 2019 and shall be conditional on additional terms and conditions which the winner will be notified of following the awards ceremony. The winner must be a stud or stable staff employee at the time of travel and must provide a letter from his/ her employer prior to travel in 2019 to confirm this is the case.
  24. All prize money paid may be subject to applicable taxes and deductions.
  25. All nominees may be required to participate in publicity generated for the awards.
  26. There is no alternative prize available and the judges’ decision are final.
  27. These terms and conditions shall be governed by and interpreted in accordance with laws of Ireland and entrants and nominees hereby submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Irish courts in connection with any legal dispute that may arise regarding any aspect of the awards or these terms and conditions.
